Nature expresses itself in ways that are deep and profound. Just as the child within us needs to be spoken to in verses of power rapturous emotions, Nature needs to be conversed too. In the visions of distilled dreams, waiting to be realized, in symphony of notes understanding the depth of life. There is a whole universe in Nature waiting to be explored, spoken to and experienced. Some of us have taken a plunge to strike the conversations. With an urge to go beyond the obvious, we present a collection of nature abstracts by photographers – Arvind, Monika, and Paromita.

Through ‘Naturalé Expressions’ - the photographers have focused themselves dedicatedly in the pursuit of the timeless expressions of nature – rendering varied forms, hues and colours to capture the mystery, beauty, power and vulnerability of the wilderness. All the collections represent ‘Expressions’.

‘Senescence: Hues and Palettes’ suggests the empathetic nature of leaves – the artist visualizes them as the epitome of beauty and mystique. The profound significance of leaves delves far beyond any form of art into the vivid core of nature.

‘Lucid Dreams’ tries to take us to another level of consciousness, displaying exquisite beauty of flower macros – giving rise to underlying emotions.

Arvind Hoon (The selection of images were shot near Sanawar) ‘Trails - Here to Eternity’ shows abstraction of life that entails eternal threads of existence – soulful rejuvenation – trying to trace the existence of life after life.

Just to let you know that the Mumbai OS Bash 2010 has been finalized as per the details given below;

Day and Date: Saturday, 16th October 2010

Venue: The swanky ay and newly launched GRILLOPOLIS.
Address: G01/101,Morya Landmark 1, Off Infinity Mall, New link Road, Andheri (West), Mumbai 400 053 (Phone; 64559900,64567900).
At the Infinity mall Signal (Infinity Mall is on the left side) you talk a right turn and pass Mainland China on your right and then take the first right again) and you’ve reached the OS Party Zone – Grillopolis. It is situated on two levels and we have the whole place exclusively to ourselves.
Kindly keep an eye out for further updates of accommodation being made available by our various well-wishers.

(Since we have conducted the last two OS Bashes in South Mumbai, there was a major request from the OS in the suburbs to do the next OS bash in Juhu/Andheri. Hence to be fair to them we had to do this one here.) A detailed map shall be sent once you confirm.

Subject: Your participation in the upcoming Sanawar Polo Match in February.

Dear Sir,

The Old Sanawarian Society shall be hosting an Exhibition Polo Match at the Jaipur Polo Grounds, New Delhi during February 2010. Since the early 80s, this has been an event marked specially in the social calendar of many of our well-known Delhi-ites. Both The Lawrence School Sanawar and the Old Sanawarian Society (OSS) have been closely associated with this event.

The annual Sanawar Polo Match has been held continuously (almost) for 30 years+. Our alumni are amongst the best polo players the country has seen, which is nothing short of being remarkable. Given Sanawar's strong army connection and in turn Army's domination of polo, it is not surprising that almost all top Sanawarian polo players have been army officers.  Brig.V.P Singh, played to handicap of +7, the highest since independence. Other outstanding players with +5 handicap, (incidentally all Colonels) have been the Sodhi brothers - Billy and Pickles,  Rupi Brar, Raj Kalaan and Kuldip Garcha.

The highest handicapped civilians still playing are the two sons of Col. Raj Kalaan, Uday and Angad, both currently handicapped at +5.

The late Maj. Musty Sekhon, Generals Binny and Mhow Shergill, Brijendra Singh, the late Maj. Dove Pannu, Col. Sam Ahlawat, were the other polo playing Sanawarians from the army.

Today Lt. Col. N S Sandhu, is the only polo playing officer from within the alumni who plays to a handicap of +4. He is also an accomplished show jumper.

Amongst civilian players the outstanding Sanawarians currently playing are Jai Shergill +3, Gurpal Singh, his son Angad, Satinder Garcha and his wife Harpreet.

The most amazing achievement is that boys from a school that never had horses excel in Polo. In fact, nearly every Indian national Polo team over the last half century has had at least one Sanawarian in it, often as team captain. For many years India’s Polo calendar included an annual “Sanawar” exhibition game.

It would be prudent to mention that exhibition Polo games were conducted in Drass (J&K) and Goa under the aegis of The Lalit Group, under the stewardship of their Chairperson, Ms. Jyotsna Suri, a fellow Old Sanawarian.

We approach you and your organization, to support our endeavors, by considering your participation for this event. We believe your contribution would bring good strategic value in the form of generating appropriate awareness aimed at a select target audience which has historically always come out in large numbers to witness this exciting event.

A commemorative brochure featuring details on the background of the event, player profiles, polo articles and photographs would be distributed during the game the readership of which includes Delhi’s polo and social fraternity, army polo and riding club members, diplomatic fraternity, old and present Sanawarians and the general public at large.

Your generosity would be given as a contribution to the Lawrence School Sanawar for their worthy projects in the field of providing excellence towards education.
