It is with heartfelt grief that we inform you the passing away of Col. Amarjit Chonkar on 3rd July, 2020. 

Col. A S Chonkar, Nilagiri, Batch of 1956, left Sanawar early to join NDA. He played hockey and soccer for Sanawar and NDA and was commissioned in the Arty. Regt in 1960. His course mates remember Chonkar as fearless and one who did not suffer fools gladly. He commanded 174 Field Regt. from 1978-81. Surprising everyone by taking premature retirement from a promising career in 1990, he settled down in Chandigarh and took to farming. 

He is survived by his wife, elder son, Brig. A S Chonkar who is currently posted in Arunachal Pradesh, and younger son, R S Chonkar, who works in the corporate sector at Gurugram. RS could be reached on +919810086426.
