While still grieving the loss of recently losing one of our batchmates, the entire class was absolutely devastated when we got the heartbreaking news of losing Vivek Chadha. 

Vivek, a polite, sincere and hardworking boy, joined school in lower 3 and spent about three years with us. A vivid memory most of us have of him is of him being extremely dedicated to any task he took on. Being born and brought up in the UK he didn’t know Hindi at all. However, he completely committed himself to learning the subject and despite the Hindi extra classes not being at the most appropriate time (after classes, during games and on Sunday’s), he never complained, nor did he miss them. By the end of the year, he surprised us, when he passed the Hindi exam, a phenomenal achievement! 

This ‘Never Give In’ attitude stayed with him even after he left Sanawar and it didn’t surprise us that he was achieving alot in life too. Post Sanawar he returned to the UK, eventually graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2010 and founded the Nine group with his father in 2012, a company he then grew and established as one of the largest private hotel companies in the UK. In 2017, he even achieved the ‘Rising Star’ award at the prestigious Ernest and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 awards. 

The news of Vivek’s untimely passing has left us devastated. And on hearing that he was recently married left us shattered. Our hearts go out to his parents, his sister Gina Chadha (VGD ‘03), his wife Stuttee and his entire family and all his friends. 

We will miss him thoroughly and will hold onto fond memories of the wonderful times he shared with us.
