FROM THE DESK OF THE EDITOR

“Goodbyes always make my throat hurt. I need more hellos.” -

Charlie Brown

When it comes to personal notes like this, I tend to think that someone else has already expressed how I feel better than I can, so I look up quotes, just like I did when I was thirteen, trying to find wisdom outside of song lyrics. As a writer and editor, I feel a bit ashamed of the habit—I should know how to express myself, right? But words get stuck. Charlie Brown understands. I know goodbye must happen. I accept it. I will say it, and I will honor that it isn’t truly an end, but still, my throat hurts with the words.

I had the honour of being able to launch, and for two years be the first Editor of The Old Sanawarian Society Newsletter. My team and I have published 6 newsletters, 1 in 2019, 4 in 2020, and 1 so far in 2021. This will be our 7th and last. Through the years we have gathered information and brought to you activities and news of OS around the world. We innovated by linking all our online sessions to the newsletter, bring to you the ability to view the entire online session.

I want to take the chance to say “thank you” to a large group of people: To you—the readers and the executive team for all the support that they have given to me over these two years. Maj Gen Kulpreet Singh, in trusting my ability to publish. Specially, I want to thank Apeksha Mehra who created the look and template of the newsletter, Pankaj Sapru, Simrith Sidhu Dhillon, Abhishek Bajaj & Rishma Gill without whose help not a single newsletter would have I am endlessly grateful and hopeful for the future of the newsletter, and journalism as a whole.

Meanwhile, happy reading! -
